CHURCH OPENING Following the announcement from HMG that places of worship may now open for private individual prayer, the PCC is risk-assessing the church building and providing for limited opening for those who wish to come and pray. If you are able to volunteer to help with opening the church and the necessary sanitising afterwards (and it is safe and allowable for you to do so), please get in touch with us. This week the PCC will test run the opening of the church and the measures we have put in place, and next week we will announce the days and times when the church will be open to the congregation and wider community. |

SHOCKING IMAGES We have some big jolts from shocking images evoked by Jeremiah and Jesus (as reported by Matthew). If we feel we frankly have enough on at the moment without more unsettling angst from Scripture, fair enough. Maybe we should...

LOCKDOWN LIFE Hilary Hardwick writes... During lockdown we’ve tried to keep life as normal as possible by keeping to our usual routines of getting up at the same time. For me the day starts and ends with the Offices and is...

VICAR'S COVID-19 APPEAL FUND Fr Gareth writes Thank you so much to everyone who has generously donated to my COVID-19 appeal. I set the target for this at £1000, and I am pleased to tell you that we have smashed that target! Donors have been a mix of people from the church family and supporters on social media. I am overwhelmed by this response but should not have been surprised at the goodness and generosity that is all around us. This fund is really important because it helps me get resources to where they are needed quickly. The fund remains open so all further donations are gratefully received. |

FOOD DISTRIBUTION COLLECTION We are continuing to collect food/toiletries/female hygiene items and clothing for the food distribution point Fr Gareth is involved with in the Prince of Wales car park. Food and other items are available at 9.30am and 6pm every day, but we need regular donations to keep it going. If you are able to help, please let us know - we can arrange safe and contactless collection from your doorstep. Thank you to all who have already donated. |

PCC DECISION Parish Share The PCC met by Zoom recently to take stock and look at the financial picture. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, we are already well over £17,000 in deficit since the lockdown, owing to loss of hall income and reduction in congregational giving. We have made the difficult decision to cap our parish share payments to the diocese at 50% until further notice. We have not taken this decision lightly and are aware of the implications. We hope that we might be able to make up some or all of the shortfall before the end of the year to ensure that we continue to pay for the cost of ministry in the parish. |

PLEASE KEEP GIVING TO YOUR CHURCH how to continue planned and one-off giving to your church Thank you for your continued sacrificial financial giving for the ministry of our church during these challenging times. These are the four ways to give, in order of preference: Standing Order: Please contact us for instructions on how to set up a Standing Order, from your bank to ours - the easiest and best way to give regularly. You always stay in control of how much and how often you give. Thank you if you already give in this way. On the web: A quick, easy and safe way of donating by debit/credit card. Please click here to donate in this way. Cheque: Having offering cheques in hand helps us budget, so please post them to The Vicarage, 26 South Park Rd, Ilford, IG1 1SS. We will bank them as and when we can. Cash: Please put aside any cash you wish to give and present it as your offering in church when we’re next there. Please let us know if you’re doing this as this helps us budget. Please DO NOT post cash. |
