LOCKDOWN LIFE Robert Mason writes... Life in lockdown for me has been both busy and restful at the same time. I have been in lockdown at my friend’s house in Goodmayes since April 5th and I am due to go back to work... | | |

PENTECOST next Sunday Next Sunday is the birthday of The Church, the fiftieth day of Eastertide – Pentecost – sometimes called Whitsun. This is the occasion when the promised Holy Spirit descended on the heads of the apostles, and they were given the gifts they needed for the mission entrusted to their care. Pentecost comes second only to Easter in importance in the Church’s calendar. Sung Mass will be broadcast at 10am as usual. |

VICAR'S COVID-19 APPEAL FUND Fr Gareth writes Thank you so much to everyone who has generously donated to my COVID-19 appeal. I set the target for this at £1000, and I am pleased to tell you that we have smashed that target! Donors have been a mix of people from the church family and supporters on social media. I am overwhelmed by this response but should not have been surprised at the goodness that is all around us. This fund is really important because it helps me get resources to where they are needed quickly. I have already disbursed £500 and will continue, on your behalf, to try to help those who are most vulnerable. |

FOOD DISTRIBUTION COLLECTION We are continuing to collect food/toiletries/female hygiene items and clothing for the food distribution point Fr Gareth is involved with in the Prince of Wales car park. Food and other items are available at 9.30am and 6pm every day, but we need regular donations to keep it going. If you are able to help, please let us know - we can arrange safe and contactless collection from your doorstep. Thank you to all who have already donated. |

PLEASE KEEP GIVING TO YOUR CHURCH how to continue planned and one-off giving to your church Our running costs continue: Gas and electricity use have gone down but we still have insurance, our parish share and other costs. The hall is closed and we are not receiving the planned giving by envelope and cash donations into the plate each Sunday. If we keep losing income, as a church family we will feel the effects in the months and years to come. Thank you for your continued sacrificial financial giving for the ministry of our church during these challenging times. These are the four ways to give money, in order of preference: Standing Order: Please contact us for instructions on how to set up a Standing Order, from your bank to ours - the easiest and best way to give regularly. You always stay in control of how much and how often you give. Thank you if you already give in this way. On the web: A quick, easy and safe way of donating by debit/credit card. Please click here to donate in this way. Cheque: Having offering cheques in hand helps us budget, so please post them to The Vicarage, 26 South Park Rd, Ilford, IG1 1SS. We will bank them as and when we can. Cash: Please put aside any cash you wish to give and present it as your offering in church when we’re next there. Please let us know if you’re doing this as this helps us budget. Please DO NOT post cash. |
